I just heard of this term this week. In theory, you can observe a student who is feeling a big emotion but is unable to communicate about this emotion. They don't know what to do or how to describe their feeling. They begin a journey to make others understand their emotions by causing the students or teachers around them to feel what they are feeling. A child who is sad or angry will lash out at another child to make them feel sad or angry in order to have someone else understand them. I wish we know more about the human brain and were explicitly taught what to do and how to recognize these behaviors in more PDs. How often is your school staff trained in Trauma Informed Practices?
