Systemic racism is in the classroom. Is your school anti-racist?

Is your school asking students to check their racial identity at the gate?

Are your black and brown students excelling at their full potential?

Do you teach Black history year-round?

Let's explore some professional development ideas and curriculums to help you ask these questions.

Book Study PD

A Book Study may look different at every school, but the importance of understanding cultural barriers to foster an equitable experience for all families is the same. Here is a book list to consider for your next professional development. One strategy is to purchase or print a chapter to read prior to the PD. Teachers will then sit in Lit Circles to discuss the importance of the reading. Another strategy would be to purchase a book for each teacher at the end of the school year to then be discussed the following August during a longer PD summer session.
