Research

How to Develop Community Engagement and Foster Relationships between School Staff and Student Families

This section will discuss three themes found in current research articles on building parent-teacher relationships in an urban school. These themes also are meant to serve as steps for any urban school to follow in order to create or solidify existing parent-teacher relationships. The steps are assessment of student, parent, and teacher relationships; intervention of students extending into the home and community; and establishing the school as a community center for families.
